Earwax is an all- women’s sound and performance collective.
Earwax came from a need to create a space for women to be heard. It is a space for women’s voices, opinion and experience to be expressed through sound based practices. Earwax isn’t a fixed collective, it is a platform for women’s voices, to help give women the opportunity to explore new work and empower one another.
Earwax was founded by Esme Lewis-Gartside and Izzy DuBois after graduating from Goldsmiths in June 2017. It came from continuous conversations around the male domination of sound as a medium whether that be in music or art.
Since our first event in December 2017, we have hosted three events at Rye Wax in Peckham. These events have brought together spoken word, live edits, live music, readings and Djs.
We have hosted numerous events at Rye Wax as well performing at the Sister Magazine Sound Issue Launch and at Scalands as part of Coastal Currents.
